DH-132AS helmets are specially designed for use by personnel operating and manning military armored vehicles. The Combat Vehicle Crew helmets, which are made in accordance with MIL-H-44117, are available in several different configurations for specific mission types.
The three basic helmet configurations include:
DH-132AS Basic This helmet system features an outer shell, inner liner and communications kit. Typical applications for the helmet system are military tanks, troop carriers, and Stryker, LAV and Avenger vehicles.
DH-132AS/RHIB This helmet system features an outer shell similar to the DH-132AS Basic, but the helmet offers enhanced waterproofed communications for use in maritime environments. The helmet system also includes a water-resistant inner liner. Typical applications for the helmet system include RHIB, MK-5 and IBU watercrafts.
DH-132AS/SV This helmet system features a unique design within the outer and inner liner, which allows the helmet system to better interface with combat vehicle sighting systems. The helmet system also includes a communications kit. Typical applications include use in Leopard Tanks.
All three helmets are also available as part of a complete hardwired or wireless Gentex LVIS® - Light Vehicle Intercom System -- or VIC-1, VIS or other types of intercom systems.
Every DH-132AS helmet system configuration includes three key components:
Outer Shell: An outer helmet shell is available in two sizes, Small and Medium/Large, and multiple colors: Black, Green, Olive Drab, Desert Tan or Foliage Green. Selection of helmet protection is available -- fiberglass (bump only), ballistic protection V50 1400 fps and ballistic protection V50 2150 fps per MIL Standard 662, 17 grain fragmentation simulation. An outer shell is optional.
Inner Liner: An inner helmet liner attaches to both the outer helmet shell and communications system. The inner liner is available in two sizes, Small and Medium/Large (fits 5th to 95th percentile), and includes either an impact foam that is skived for ventilation or a high-moisture/high-humidity resistant ventilated foam pads. The liner is made of fire retardant Nomex®.
Communications: Communication systems can include the following configurations (reference MIL-H-49161), and other configurations are available upon request -
- Intercom Compatible - VIC-1, VIC-2, AN/VIC-3(VIS) or Gentex's LVIS®.
- Push-To-Talk (PTT) Switch - The PTT Switch can be an earcup mounted switch or an in-line upper cable switch. The inline molded switch enhances the waterproofing of the communications system.
- Earphones/Active Noise Reduction (ANR) - Available in various impedances, both passive earphones and ANR modules for increased noise attentuation.
- Microphones - Microphones are available with various impedance dynamic or electret microphones with wire or flex boom microphone assemblies.
- Earcups - Earcups are available in high-noise attenuation plastic or with a ballistic protection overlay added to the ear cups provideing V50 1600 fps protection.
- Lower Cables - Various lower cables are available in different lengths and mating connections for various intercoms. Lower cables will connect to the helmet's break-away connector for emergency egress.
ptional helmet components and performance optics are available from Gentex. Optional helmet accessories include: Night Vision Goggle Bracket, Night Vision Goggle Bracket with Strap, and BOA and EPS-21 goggles.
